UPDATES:

 FIRE DAMAGE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

The building structure damaged in the fire of 2009 has been rebuilt.  There will still be some construction going on in the area as residents begin their interior reconstruction but the disruptions should be minimal. Thanks to all the Dolphin Cover residents who have been so patient during this time.

  --------------------

THE DRY ROT REPAIR & PAINTING PROJECT

The goal of this project is to repair the dry rot damage and prepare all 43 buildings for painting.  The buildings along the bluff have been completed and the crew is moving quickly through the next "row" beginning with 118/120 Spinnaker and moving north towards Surfview Court. The entire process is expected to take about 2-1/2 years to complete.  -------------------------------------------

 Landscape Update:

The landscaping project is complete!  The project was finished on schedule and right on budget!  Thanks to all of you for being so cooperative and patient.

Enjoy the new landscaping!!

Please be respectful of the DMW parking policies:

GUEST PARKING is reserved for Guests Only.

Especially around the holidays, lets leave open parking spaces for visiting guests by parking in assigned parking areas.

Thank you!

Good things are happening at DMW! . . .

  • Our new irrigation system will be run by Smart Controllers (which are connected to our local weather system) for more effective water usage - thats good for the environment and good for the budget!
  • Rock mulch is being used around the perimeters of every building as both a fire prevention measure as well as dry rot damage control.
  • Drip lines are being used around the perimeter of the buildings. Drip lines deliver water directly to the plants roots to minimize evaporation and waste- they will also reduce the costly expense of dryrot repairs in the future by keeping water away from the wood buildings.
  • Bark mulch is being used on new landscaped areas throughout Del Mar Woods. Mulch helps hold in moisture for less water evaporation and richer soil. Many of the shrubs and ground covers in the project are low water consumer, drought resistant plants.

RogerEbert Headlines
The latest movie reviews from RogerEbert.com
The American / **** (R)
"The American" allows George Clooney to play a man as starkly defined as a samurai. His fatal flaw, as it must be for any samurai, is love. Other than that, the American is perfect: Sealed, impervious and expert, with a focus so narrow it is defined only by his skills and his master. Here is a gripping film with the focus of a Japanese drama, an impenetrable character to equal Alain Delon's in "Le Samourai," by Jean-Pierre Melville.

Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1 / ***1/2 (R)
"Mesrine: Public Enemy No. 1" (R, 133 minutes). Continuation of the brutal life of France's most notorious criminal, who survived a 20-year series of bank robberies, kidnappings, prison breaks and murders. Vincent Cassel makes him brutal, ugly, powerful and inscrutable. Winner of French Oscars for best director and actor. Three and a half stars

Mugabe and the White African / *** (Unrated)
"Mugabe and the White African" (Unrated, 90 minutes). The story of Mike Campbell, a white farmer in Zimbabwe, who resists the efforts of the Mugabe regime to take over his farm, and eventually wins his case in an African regional high court. Dramatic, emotional, but raising some questions that go unanswered. Three stars
